Preventive Services

Preventive services are intended to keep your overall oral health in excellent shape. The American Dental Association (ADA) recommends that you visit your dentist regularly – at least once every six months – to ensure proper oral hygiene and functionality. Regular checkups and oral health maintenance minimize the development of serious dental problems that can require costly treatment.

At Gentech Dentist, you’ll enjoy our extremely gentle, quality-focused dentists. Each and every Gentech Dentist is dedicated to providing you with the best possible dental experience. An added benefit of Gentech general dentists is that they often have advanced dental training allowing them to perform procedures often done only by specialists, saving you both time and money.

Professional Teeth Cleaning

A professional hygienist’s cleaning will leave you with that “toothpaste-commercial-smile” feeling! After deposits, stains and other unwanted items are gently cleaned from your teeth, your hygienist will polish your teeth to provide you with that squeaky-clean smile.

X-rays

Gentech Dentist only utilizes digital dental x-rays that deliver significantly less radiation and provide better image quality, resulting in safer, better care for you. Not only that, digital x-rays don’t require fixer, developer and other solutions that can harm our environment. For us, digital dental x-rays are the only option that makes sense for our patients, staff and the environment.

Complete Exam

A complete oral exam includes obtaining a medical history and other pertinent health information, followed by a complete examination of the health of your teeth, mouth and gums. This examination can often head off potential problems before they even occur.

Head, Neck, Tissue and Gland Screening (Oral Cancer Screening)

This screening is provided at each comprehensive dental exam, and includes an oral cancer screening. This exam can help identify oral cancer and other diseases pertaining to oral health.

Sealants

Because most tooth decay in children and teens occurs on the chewing surfaces of the back teeth, dental sealants are often used to protect these areas from decay. Dental sealants are thin plastic coatings that are applied to the grooves on the chewing surfaces of the back teeth.

Fluoride

Fluoride treatments are often recommended for children and adults and are another pain-free way to help your teeth fight cavities. Our teeth react to the foods we eat and are in a constant process of demineralization (loss of minerals) or re-mineralization (gaining minerals). When these processes don’t balance each other out, the demineralization of the enamel on our teeth can result in increased susceptibility to cavities. Fluoride helps to speed the re-mineralization for optimal enamel (and tooth) health.

Education

Particularly amongst children and teens, patient education is often needed to teach proper brushing and flossing habits, as well as other tips for maintaining a healthy mouth. Our Gentech dentists and hygienists are always prepared to provide this instruction in a friendly and fun manner.

Scaling and Root Planing

In cases where gum disease is present, scaling and root planing is an effective way to treat gum disease before it becomes severe. During this procedure, your hygienist will remove plaque, calculus and stain from the crown down to the root surfaces of your teeth. Scaling and root planing, when combined with proper home care, should stop the progression of gum disease.

Sports & Night Guards

Occlusal guards are removable dental appliances (sometimes called night guards) which are designed to minimize the effects of bruxism (grinding) and other occlusal factors. (Occlusal refers to the biting surface of the teeth and the alignment of the teeth from upper and lowers jaws when biting.)

Sports guards are removable guards that cover your teeth and are designed to protect the teeth during sports activities. While custom-fitted sports guards are more expensive than off-the-shelf varieties, they provide better comfort and protection.
