Braces are simply the use of devices to move teeth or adjust underlying bone. If you have crooked teeth and/or a misaligned bite (an underbite or overbite), there are a variety of treatments that can help straighten your teeth, including braces and retainers. Our orthodontist, practices at three of our six Portland area dental offices. Contact us for a no-charge initial consult.
Types of braces include:
Conventional Metal braces
Conventional metal braces remain a safe and effective standard for treating many types of bite conditions and teeth alignment issues. As advancements in orthodontic technology have been made, conventional braces have become increasingly smaller and more comfortable than previous versions of ‘metal braces’.
Clear braces are made of porcelain, which helps resist staining and decreases breakage. Adults like to choose clear braces because they “blend in” with the teeth and are less noticeable than metal.
When Invisalign® is an option, removable aligners allow easier eating and cleaning, the aligners are smooth and comfortable, and it is even more difficult for others to see that you’re straightening your teeth, as they’re virtually invisible. Invisalign® consists of strong plastic trays that are fabricated especially for you. Our orthodontist can determine if Invisalign® is a viable option for you depending on the severity of your bite and/or crookedness of your teeth.
