Over 85% of Americans believe their oral health is “very” or “extremely” important to their overall health. People are beginning to understand the mouth-body connection and the importance of oral health. This knowledge is the foundation of our unique, innovative and industry leading solution – Preventistry®.
80% of the services provided by Gentech Dentist affiliated care delivery practices in 2019 were preventive dental services. Preventistry is built on the idea that the key to better overall health through oral health is to reward value of care over volume, and to transform how people access and understand dental care.
Despite the importance of dental care, the sad truth is, not everyone is receiving this care. Cost and access are just two reasons people do not receive the oral health care they need. Those with poor oral heath are at a much greater risk for complications like diabetes, heart disease and respiratory problems, among other things, ultimately compromising the quality and length of lifespan.
At the Gentech Dentist affiliated care practices, we are relentlessly dedicated to our mission: Improving the oral health of all. To do this, we take an all-in approach, which includes increasing access to dental care services and awareness of the importance of oral health in areas where the communities might not otherwise have access. We implement programs and practices such as teledentistry, the MORE Program, and community outreach services to serve our mission.
Through our Community Outreach programs, providers and employees spent over 34,000 hours in 56 counties, providing care in schools, WIC, Headstart, and homeless shelters. We were able to provide preventive screenings to approximately 29,000 students from 441 different schools, totaling nearly 1.5 million dollars in donated care during 2019.
To empower and provide people with the knowledge and the opportunity to take control of their oral health is not only rewarding for our teams but of the utmost importance to the overall health of our nation. We look forward to what 2020 has to bring as we continue to live our mission to improve the oral health of all.
